3rd Annual HumanisEM Conference Cultivating Courage: How the Health Humanities Can Support Resilience, Dialogue, and Flourishing in Emergency Medicine Call for Abstracts and Creative Works The 3rd Annual HumanisEM Conference will be held virtually on Zoom on October 16, 2025 from 11:00am-2:00pm Eastern Time. The goal of the HumanisEM conference is to create interprofessional and interdisciplinary dialogue exploring how the health humanities can impact care and partnership with patients, enhance clinicians’ well-being, and serve as a lens for crucial discourse amongst stakeholders in emergency care. Conference registration is free.
We are seeking 250-word abstracts describing research or innovations in the health humanities as applied to emergency medicine. We will consider research relevant to emergency medicine that is grounded in the health humanities. We will also consider health humanities-based innovations relevant to emergency medicine within, but not limited to, the following domains: 1) education (for any level of learner across the continuum of health professions education), 2) patient care, 3) community engagement or advocacy, 4) interprofessional or interdisciplinary partnerships. Innovations do not need to have outcomes yet and can still be in progress. However, innovations that have not yet been implemented, but are presented in concept only, will NOT be accepted.
The conference will feature brief oral presentations of accepted abstracts.
We are also seeking any unpublished creative works relevant to Emergency Medicine in any medium. If you are submitting a painting, sculpture, or other visual artwork, please send multiple photos. Creative works will be displayed and disseminated during the conference. Deadline for submission: Sep 2, 2025 at 11:59pm ET Please send your submissions to HumanisEMConference@gmail.com.
