ead With Compassion Workshop, April 8-9, 2026

Hosted byUC San Diego's Center for Compassionate Communication, Lead With Compassion is a two-day workshop in San Diego, CA, that equips health care professionals, medical educators, and teaching artists who work in medical education and health care with tools to enhance their leadership performance, using proven empathy and compassion principles. CME credit is provided.

Through an interactive curriculum based in arts and humanities, this immersive session uncovers and develops your authentic communications style and helps build your toolbox to become more adaptable when speaking with patients, students, funders, the media—and even your own family. Learning will occur alongside clinicians as well as artists who have an interest in teaching in healthcare. You will participate in discussions, innovative exercises, roleplay, and written reflections to increase your skill set and wellness. Our overarching goal is to rewire the way healthcare providers think about communication in medicine, and address the importance of awareness, and self-compassion.

Lead With Compassion can serve as a stand-alone opportunity or become your first step as a trainer to bolster your facilitation skills and learn ways of integrating these lessons into your curriculum. Our scaffolded program includes subsequent interactive “booster” sessions on Zoom, and online modules with facilitation guides for integration into the classroom.

Lead With Compassion is a dynamic workshop led by UC San Diego's Center for Compassionate Communication. Your instructors are experts in arts- and humanities-based leadership training, who will guide you through interactive exercises rooted in storytelling, creativity, and reflective practice.
